It is a 30.5km domestic passenger railway with nine stations, linking Sham Shui Po in West Kowloon, via Kwai Tsing and Tsuen Wan with Yuen Long and Tuen Mun in the Northwest New Territories. West Rail interchanges with the existing MTR and Light Rail systems, forming an integrated rail network in Hong Kong. The West Rail opened in 2003 and serves 340,000 passengers per day. Ma On Shan Rail is one the three of the East Rail Extension lines of KCRC. Upon its opening by end of 2004, the MOS Rail will serve the community of Ma On Shan, and to provide reliable and convenient rail services between Ma On Shan and Tai Wai. Tai Wai Station has been expanded to three times its original size to serve as an interchange station with East Rail. Passengers from Ma On Shan will simply use the cross-platform interchange at Tai Wai Station to board trains to Tsim Sha Tsui. There are nine stations along the MOS Rail and they are within easy walking distance of the area's major residential developments. Back to Photo Gallery of Projects
