The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) was voted one of the ten best architectural structures in Hong Kong in 1999.
Built on a 6.5 hectare "island" of newly-reclaimed land, the HK$4.8 billion (US$620 million) extension project more than doubled the prime function space and increased the HKCEC total area to 248,000 sq m (2.67 million sq ft), making the entire complex the largest convention and exhibition center in Asia outside Japan.
